Klarna Max and 30,000 EuroBonus points: is it worth it? (September 2026)

Klarna and SAS pay 30,000 EuroBonus points for two months of a Max subscription, and the maths holds up. Three dates decide it: when you have to join, when the points land, and when to cancel.
Key takeaways
- New Klarna Max members who join between 1 and 15 September 2026 get 30,000 SAS EuroBonus points. New Premium members get 15,000.
- The points land on 19 October, and you must still have the subscription then, so the offer costs two months of membership, not one. In Norway that is about 699 kr for Max at the campaign price.
- Do not cancel before 19 October. The terms require a subscription with no cancellation on it at the award date.
- Link your EuroBonus number to Klarna before 19 October, or the points have nowhere to go.
- Take Max. The extra 420 kr over Premium in Norway buys another 15,000 points, and lounge access comes with it.
Is the Klarna EuroBonus offer worth it?
Yes. In Norway the campaign price for Max is about 349 kr a month, so two months costs about 699 kr and pays 30,000 EuroBonus points, which is about 43 points per krone. Earning the same 30,000 points through Klarna's ordinary cashback would take around 165,000 kr of spending. Most of the risk sits in forgetting to cancel afterwards.
Klarna and SAS are running a short campaign for new members. Sign up for a Klarna Membership between 1 and 15 September 2026, keep it until 19 October, and SAS credits your EuroBonus account with 15,000 points on Premium or 30,000 on Max.[1] It is open to residents of Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland who are 18 or over.
A word on both, if this is new to you. EuroBonus is the SAS loyalty programme, where the points you collect pay for flights, upgrades and hotel nights. Klarna Max is the top of Klarna's membership tiers, with cashback on Klarna purchases, lounge access and more than twenty subscriptions.
This article is about the welcome offer alone, and how to get the most out of the two months it asks for. It is not a guide to collecting EuroBonus points the rest of the year.
About this article
- Penge is not affiliated with, sponsored by or paid by Klarna or SAS. We earn nothing if you join, and the links here are ordinary links.
- Everything below comes from Klarna's own terms and pages, read on 3 September 2026. Prices, terms and the campaign itself can change before 19 October, so check what the app shows you before you confirm.
What you pay, and what you get
Plan for two months. Whichever day you join inside the campaign window, your first month runs out before 19 October, so a second charge is always part of the price.
| Country | Tier | Per month | Two months | Points | Points per krone |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Norway | Premium | 139 kr | 279 kr | 15,000 | about 54 |
| Norway | Max | 349 kr | 699 kr | 30,000 | about 43 |
| Sweden | Premium | 139 kr | 279 kr | 15,000 | about 54 |
| Sweden | Max | 384 kr | 769 kr | 30,000 | about 39 |
| Denmark | Premium | 104 kr | 209 kr | 15,000 | about 72 |
| Denmark | Max | 244 kr | 489 kr | 30,000 | about 61 |
Those are campaign prices. Klarna takes 30 % off the first three months, on both Premium and Max, and you have to join by 30 September to get it.[2] Since the offer needs only two months, both of them are discounted. At the full price, two months of Max costs 998 kr in Norway, 1,098 kr in Sweden and 698 kr in Denmark, which is about 30, 27 and 43 points per krone.
Those rates count the whole subscription as the cost of the points, which is the harshest way to read it. If you use the lounges or the included services even once, the points get cheaper still. For comparison, Klarna Max pays 1.5 % cashback, and 100 cashback points is one krone.[3] The Klarna app converts 100 cashback points into 12.07 EuroBonus points, so 100 kr of spending gives you about 18 points.
How to set it up, step by step
- Download the Klarna app and create an account, if you do not already have one.
- Start the Max subscription. Pick the tier you want at signup, because upgrading later during the campaign does not top up the points. Before you confirm the purchase, check that the welcome offer is shown on the Max page. If it is not, do not complete the purchase. You risk paying for two months and getting no points.
- Link your SAS EuroBonus number when Klarna asks for it during signup. We took Max ourselves to check: it asks whether or not you already saved the card under loyalty cards, so have the number ready.
- Write the cancellation date in your calendar now: after 19 October, and before your third month renews.
Good to know
- Your renewal date is the day of the month you signed up. Join on 8 September and you are billed again on 8 October and 8 November, so cancel somewhere between 19 October and 8 November. Forget, and a third month of Max costs 349 kr in Norway with the discount, 499 kr once the discount ends.
- You qualify unless you had an active Premium or Max subscription at some point in the six months before 1 September 2026. Every other tier is fine: upgrading from a free Klarna account, Standard, Everywhere or Plus counts as joining.[1]
- Downgrading before 19 October, from Max to Premium included, forfeits the points entirely.
Why 19 October is the date to watch
The terms say the points are credited only if the subscription is active and in good standing on the award date, with no arrears, cancellation or suspension.[1] Cancelling in early October usually leaves you subscribed until the end of the month you paid for, but it also puts a cancellation on the account, and the terms name a cancellation as a reason to withhold the points. Do not press cancel until 19 October has passed.
The linking deadline is the same date. The terms only require your EuroBonus account to be connected before the points are awarded, not before you subscribe, so anyone who has already signed up without linking has not lost anything.
Premium or Max?
Take Max. Premium is the sharper rate per krone, 54 points against 43 in Norway, but the gap is small in money. Two months of Premium is about 279 kr and two months of Max about 699 kr, so the extra 420 kr buys another 15,000 points. That is roughly 36 points per krone on the money you add, about three times what converting cashback gives you, and unlimited lounge access comes with it. Premium is the pick only if the smaller bill is what you care about.
What the two months actually give you
You get more than points for the 699 kr. The parts of Max you can realistically use inside two months:
- Unlimited access to more than 1,900 airport lounges. Every tier below Max pays per visit, so this is the perk with the clearest cash value if you have a trip booked.
- 1.5 % cashback on Klarna purchases, payable as cash or converted to travel points.
- More than twenty included subscriptions, and the list differs by country. Norway and Sweden get Voi with 60 free minutes a month, foodora Pro and Storytel with 20 hours of listening. Sweden also gets Viaplay, Omni and SvD. Denmark gets Voi, Storytel and Laundryheap. Every market gets Headspace, NordVPN, ClassPass, Clue, Picsart and a handful of papers and magazines, The New York Times and Wired among them. Pausing your own for two months takes real money off the cost.
- Travel and purchase cover: medical cover up to 5 million euro, lost baggage up to 3,000 euro, car hire excess up to 10,000 euro, and damage or theft cover up to 1,500 euro on what you buy.
- Cancel for any reason, meaning 70 % back on trips and events called off at least 24 hours ahead, up to 2,500 euro per claim.
Premium has a smaller version of the same list. Klarna's own comparison table sets out every benefit tier by tier.[2]
Each of those subscriptions has to be activated separately in the Klarna app, using the same email address as your Klarna account. Some are free trials that renew into a paid subscription unless you stop them yourself. Activate six services in September, cancel only Klarna in October, and you are still paying for the six.
Should you cancel after the two months?
For most people, yes. The points are yours once they land on 19 October, and a third month buys no more of them. Keep Max only if the lounges, the subscriptions and the cashback are worth 499 kr a month to you on their own.
Do the sum on what you actually use. A third month at 499 kr earns its keep on a couple of lounge visits, or if you were already paying for two or three of the subscriptions Max carries. If neither is true, month three is a charge with nothing behind it.
If you are keeping it for the points alone, hold it up against a travel card. A SAS EuroBonus Mastercard Premium gives 15 points per 100 kr on purchases in Norwegian kroner, 20 in local currency abroad and 25 on flight tickets from SAS, for 3,348 kr a year.[7] Max pays about 18 points per 100 kr through cashback and costs 5,988 kr a year, so the card collects points more cheaply. Max only wins when you use the rest of what comes with it.
The fine print worth reading
- Points are credited on 19 October, but Klarna disclaims responsibility for delays at the SAS end, so do not treat that date as a guarantee.
- Klarna may modify or withdraw the promotion on reasonable notice.
- Cancelling and resubscribing inside the campaign window does not earn the bonus a second time.
- The metal card is optional and has to be requested in the Klarna app. You do not need it: the card is virtual too, and works in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet from day one.[6] Order the metal card and cancel Premium or Max within six months, and there is a fee to deactivate it.[2]
How Penge helps
Penge connects to your bank and finds the recurring charges in your transactions, so the Klarna charge turns up in a list of what you pay every month instead of sitting in a statement. You see the second charge coming, and you can see when to cancel before a third one arrives. More on that in how to get control of your subscriptions, and on points in how to earn EuroBonus points faster.

Frequently asked questions
- How long do I have to keep the Klarna subscription?
- Until 19 October 2026. Because the campaign closes on 15 September, your first paid month always ends before that date, so in practice the offer costs two months of membership whichever day you join.
- Can I cancel straight after signing up?
- No. The terms require the subscription to be active with no cancellation on it on 19 October, so cancelling early risks the whole bonus even if you have paid through that date. Wait until 19 October has passed, then cancel before your next renewal.
- Do I have to link EuroBonus before I subscribe?
- No, the deadline is 19 October, and Klarna asks you for the number during signup anyway. If the number is missing on the award date the points are lost, so check that it is there before then.
- Is Premium or Max the better deal?
- Max, for most people. Premium gives more points per krone, but in Norway Max costs about 420 kr more over the two months and pays 15,000 more points, which is roughly 36 points per krone on the extra money. Max also includes unlimited lounge access. Premium is the pick if you want the smallest possible bill.
- What if I had Klarna Premium earlier this year?
- You are not eligible if you held an active Premium or Max subscription at any point in the six months before 1 September 2026. A free Klarna account, or Standard, Everywhere or Plus, does not disqualify you.
